The Coconut Cult

What is all this talk about The Coconut Cult?! A probiotic yogurt made of only organic coconuts and probiotics, and people are going crazy over it. But, why? There’s a million probiotic yogurts and supplements out there, what is so special about this one? Well, I did my own experiment to try and figure it out.

What is a probiotic?

Probiotics are live bacteria that are good for gut health and digestion. We need these friendly bacteria to aid in proper nutrient absorption and immune function, as they inhibit infection, inflammation and disease.

Trying Something New

The Coconut Cult in Los Angeles

First of all, let me start off by saying that I do not like coconut. DO NOT - in all caps, underlined, and bold. I have never been a fan of it, although, I have recently been recruited to the Cult after my first jar of this probiotic yogurt...

Because I am not a fan of the flavor of coconut, I chose to go with the mango cream. Let me say this: best decision, ever. My first bite was, well, weird. The yogurt itself was fluffy, with a whipped-like texture, and it had a tang to it for sure. A little sour on the first taste, but after that first spoonful I found myself craving another bite. Odd.

After a few days

I definitely got used to the flavor. Adding berries, fruit, or my favorite organic granola to the yogurt made for a tasty snack, but I was advised to not go hog-wild on the yogurt...turns out there are about 25 billion (yes, billion) probiotics in each serving! “Newbies” are advised to only eat two tablespoons per day, so that's what I did.

By the second week

I felt GREAT!!! I had no problem waking up in the morning, and there was no “morning fog” that I had become so accustomed to over the years. My days didn't seem to drag anymore, and I no longer felt that mid-day slump after lunch. On top of feeling rested and having more energy, I also noticed my skin starting to look a bit brighter and more even toned, and my abdomen doesn’t have as much bloating and swelling as it did before. Is this all because of the Coconut Cult? Or, is it just a coincidence that all of a sudden my “issues” are clearing up all at the same time? Well, being the skeptic that I am, I naturally want to say that only time will be able to tell, but something in my gut tells me that the Cult has a major play in the game ;-)

About a month later

I am now convinced that this yogurt has something to do with my energy levels. I have noticed that I stay hydrated longer, I fall asleep easier, and I am able to focus better and for longer periods of time. All of these are things that I didn't really notice I was lacking before, but after a month of seeing and feeling the improvements, even the people in my daily life are noticing the difference! If there's one thing for sure, it's that everyone loves when people notice your good days. Thanks, Coconut Cult!

Some Key Factors of The Coconut Cult

Coconut Cult in Los Angeles

The original Coconut Cult is made up of only organic coconuts and probiotics, while the coconut cream and mango cream flavors are fermented with organic orange juice and organic mangoes. All flavors are non-dairy, non-GMO, gluten free, and soy free. As I stated before, there are 25 billion probiotics per serving. That makes over 800 billion probiotics in each jar! Every jar is made by hand and fermented in the jar itself, making each jar slightly different from the rest.

All in all, I think this product is something that everyone should at least try. If it works for you, AWESOME!! If not, then at least you can say you've tried it.

Some facts, straight from the Coconut Cult website:

  • Powerful probiotics may explode: Very active coconut probiotics may overflow upon opening. Don’t freak out, your yogurt has not gone bad. It’s just life in a jar. We recommend you open the jar over a bowl so you can save it and eat it.
  • Natural tangy flavor: Our yogurts are fermented with powerful probiotics, which can make them quite sour and tangy.
  • You can adjust the consistency: We make all of our yogurts in artisanal, small batches. This means there is some variability in texture and consistency, especially when the yogurts are shaken during shipping. Sometimes, the cream at the top gets mixed with the fermented coconut water at the bottom, which can also change the texture. Other times the thicker portion at the top can seem chunky or fluffy. This is totally normal, and your yogurt still has all of the super probiotic benefits your body loves! If you want, you can stir it up or let it settle out to modify texture.
  • Safe for children and pets!
